ENRICHMENT 1
Formerly Standard 1
A cognitive program that develops thinking skills, metacognition, and independent learning for students of all abilities.
$900.00
Course Overview
Cognitive Enrichment-1 is a cognitive intervention program that can be applied in a one-on-one setting or in the classroom. For individuals with special needs, it is used as a remediation program, while for higher-functioning learners, it is utilized as an enrichment tool. To date, the program has been successfully used in the following frameworks:

Cognitive Enrichment as part of a classroom curriculum is aimed at enhancing students’ cognitive functions necessary for academic learning and achievement. The fundamental assumption of the program, based on the theories of Structural Cognitive Modifiability and Mediated Learning Experience, is that intelligence is dynamic and modifiable, not static or fixed. Thus, the program seeks to correct deficiencies in fundamental thinking skills by providing students with the concepts, skills, strategies, operations, and techniques that are necessary for functioning as independent learners. The program increases students’ motivation, develops metacognition, and helps them “learn how to learn.
Course Syllabus:
-
Introduction to the theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability;
-
Introduction to the Theory of Mediated Learning Experience
-
Analysis of deficient cognitive functions in regular and special needs populations;
-
Criteria and principles of mediation;
-
Goal and sub-goals of the clinical and educational application of the FIE program;

Sharon Eagen
Sharon sat in her first Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) Standard 1 course on a hot summer day in 2011 and was hooked. She thought of all her students, past and present, and knew each one of them needed the Feuerstein Method. There were finally some answers to the questions she had been asking about how to help all her students reach their full potential. Sharon implemented FIE and Mediated Learning Experience in her Michigan classroom and with her educational therapy students. She co-led a schoolwide implementation of FIE for all K-8 students, became a trainer in 2018, and taught the principles of mediation to the school faculty. Sharon is the founder of The Cognitive Link and The Mediated Learning Lab where she supports parents, teachers, administrators, and mediators as they guide students to reach their learning potential. BEFORE YOU CALL IT DYSLEXIA
When Reading Fails Because the Brain Was Never Trained
$200.00
About the Course
Before we call it dyslexia, we need to ask whether the brain was ever trained for the thinking reading requires. Too often, instruction assumes attention, pattern recognition, sound–symbol organization, and the ability to hold meaning—without ever intentionally building them. When reading collapses under those demands, labels follow. This training challenges educators to pause before diagnosis and take responsibility for developing the cognitive foundations that make reading possible.
Participants will leave able to:
• distinguish true dyslexia from reading failure rooted in undeveloped cognition
• identify where instruction assumes thinking instead of building it
• understand how mediation trains the brain before labeling begins
• protect students from premature diagnosis by strengthening instruction first
